Colonial Holiday Park and Leisure Village is 12kms from Crowdy Head, which as part of its iconic history, has one of the few remaining original lighthouses in the area, built in 1878. Crowdy Head also offers a safe swimming beach for young and old and extending 15kms north, a surf beach which allows driving of 4WD vehicles. For those fishing enthusiasts, you have the boat launching facilities as well. Take a stroll around the beach or walk up to the lighthouse (not for the faint hearted!) to do a spot of whale watching in the season.
There are an abundance of markets in and around the Manning Valley – too many to name here, but all have interesting stalls with farmers produce days as well.
Heading South, Taree is a 20 minute drive for the larger shopping /business/industrial areas, and a 45 minute drive North to Port Macquarie, which has much to offer for a weekend away perhaps. Sydney is only a 3.5 hour drive south, and you are in the thick of city life! There is the local bus service that stops outside the gates of the Village and travels to and from Taree daily. Taree has a large modern public hospital, providing a full range of services to our area; full emergency services, medical, surgical and allied health services, including dietetics, oncology and palliative care. For those of you with private health cover, Mayo Private Hospital also offers a wide range of health and medical facilities.
